ProjectUniversal Design | Photography | Education
Much like photography has been reinvented over time, so has this course, especially in its new and completely different format, online. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) was used when creating this course to build a learning environment that is equitable and inclusive to address the needs of our diverse student population by providing multiple means of engagement, representation, action, and expression. Grading criteria will allow students an opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and skills they have already developed, while simultaneously working on new ones. Lessons and assignments are also designed to allow the student to analyze images’ strengths and weaknesses. This will help them to learn, grow, and evaluate their own artwork more objectively. As you explore the history of photography through various educational methods and opportunities, we will be examining the evolution of the camera, photographic processes and how that has impacted the way communication has changed by photography, fostering our expansion of visual literacy. This learning experience will also allow students to analyze how photographs have impacted and will continue to impact the development of our society. Photo History is not just about learning names, dates, camera processes, etc. it’s about learning how to deconstruct an image, to look for its meaning and purpose, and to understand how certain images and photography as a medium has impacted our world by documenting our past, influencing our present and inspiring change in our future. The more you get involved during class, the greater likelihood you will have a more enjoyable and meaningful experience. The more time and effort you put into making your images and crafting your writings, the more success and creativity you will see, and the more enlightened you will become. |
