ISOs
ISO stands for International Standard Organization. It was a rating system that was originally founded so that film sensitivity could be standardized. Now we use this same terminology to discuss the sensitivity of the camera sensor in a digital camera. ISOs operate in that same 2:1 or 1:2 ratio, in that they double and half in terms of their sensitivity to light when adjust the ISO setting by one full stop. I’m guessing your starting to get the drill here. They too can come in 1/3 increments, but for memorization purposes, we will stick to the whole stops. Here again, you will better understand the fundamentals of photography if you memorize those ISOs! Please see the ISO Diagram below.

Camera Simulator
Explore exposure with this camera simulator. Watch what happens to the exposure when you adjust the ISO to 1 or 2 stops over and under exposed. Set the camera in Manual mode and adjust only the ISO, leaving the shutter speed and aperture alone. Take a shot at each of the different ISOs.
